After leading the homily in the Eucharist service at St Michael and All Angels in Harbledown, he spoke to the Society members of the Canterbury Diocese about the plans for the Society.
In his lively speech he spoke of the societies intention to provide greater help to those going forward for ordination selection in the future. In addition he gave his view of the overall role that the Society will play within the Church of England. He explained that he saw that the Societies role was to be actively involved within the Anglican Church and not as a stepping stone towards the Ordinariate. His upbeat hopes for the Society nationally as well as his positive view of the Church of England were welcomed by all present.
One of the key points he made was that as Anglo-Catholics we need to show that we are celebrating not apologizing for our presence within the Church of England.
Bishop Trevor's promise to continue to work closely with the Society and to come to the Canterbury Diocese's Society meetings in the future, when invited, was warmly accepted in the generous spirit it was given.
